Privacy Policy — HiCapture

1. General

Flate (Republic of Korea), the operator of HiCapture (the 'Operator'), complies with Korea's Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable laws, and this Policy explains what information is handled, and how, by the HiCapture app (the 'App'), the website (the 'Site') and in the course of purchasing a paid license (the 'License').

2. Information Handled by the App

The App has no sign-up or login, and does not collect personal information that identifies users while you use it.

Screenshots, recordings and edited outputcreated and stored only on your computer. They are not transmitted to the Operator.
Text extraction (OCR)processed on your device using the recognizer built into the operating system. Images and recognized text are never sent off the device.
Settings (shortcuts, language, save folder, etc.) and the license keystored on your computer.
Usage statistics, crash reports and advertising identifiersnot collected.

3. When the App Connects to the Internet

The App connects to the internet only to check for and download updates and to verify the License.

Update checksthe App reads a file containing the latest version information from a public repository (raw.githubusercontent.com). You can turn off automatic checks in Settings → General.
Update downloadswhen you click 'Update', the App downloads the new version from GitHub Releases.
License activation, deactivation and verificationthe App sends the license key and a name that identifies this computer to Lemon Squeezy (api.lemonsqueezy.com). If you have not entered a License, this connection does not take place.

As with any ordinary web request, GitHub and Lemon Squeezy may receive connection information such as your IP address, which is governed by each service's privacy policy.

4. Information Processed When You Purchase a License

When you purchase a License, the payment provider Lemon Squeezy receives the following information on the checkout page.

Requiredemail address, name, payment method information (such as card number), billing country and postal code
Generated automaticallyorder number, amount paid and tax, date and time of payment, IP address, and device and browser information for fraud prevention

Of this, the Operator views the email address, name, billing country, order number, amount and date of payment, and the license key and activation records (device name, activation date and time) through Lemon Squeezy's seller dashboard. The Operator does not receive payment method information such as card numbers.

This information is used only for the following purposes.

Processing payments, calculating and filing taxes, and issuing receipts
Issuing and delivering license keys, and activating, deactivating and verifying Licenses
Refunds, responding to inquiries, handling disputes and preventing fraudulent payments

Purchase information is not used for advertising or marketing emails. If you do not purchase a License, this information is not processed.

5. Information Handled by the Site

The Site does not use sign-up, contact forms, analytics tools or ad trackers. Clicking 'Buy a license' takes you to Lemon Squeezy's checkout page, which is governed by Lemon Squeezy's policies.

Language cookie (NEXT_LOCALE)remembers the language you chose so the Site appears in the same language on your next visit. It is kept for 1 year and not used for any other purpose.
Appearance (localStorage)your light or dark choice is stored only in your browser. It is not sent to the server.
Access logsthe service hosting the Site may keep server logs such as IP address, browser information and request time for security and operations.

You can clear or block cookies and storage in your browser settings; the Site will still work, using the default language and your system appearance.

6. Provision to Third Parties and Outsourcing of Processing

The Operator does not sell users' personal information and, except where required by law, does not provide it to any third parties other than those below.

Lemon Squeezy (Link, LLC)as the Merchant of Record, processes payments, taxes, receipts and refunds, and issues and verifies license keys. It processes payment information as an independent controller under its own policies and, depending on the payment method, uses payment processors such as Stripe and PayPal.

Information processed by these parties is also governed by each service's policies.

7. Overseas Transfer of Personal Information

Information needed to purchase and verify a License is transferred to, processed and stored on Lemon Squeezy's servers in the United States. This transfer is necessary to perform the purchase contract with you, and the following is disclosed in accordance with Article 28-8 of Korea's Personal Information Protection Act.

If you do not want your information transferred overseas, simply do not purchase a License. In that case you cannot use the paid features (screen recording and the video editor), but the free features remain available.

8. Users Outside Korea

Users in other countries, such as the European Union and the United Kingdom, are also guaranteed the rights provided by the data protection laws of their region (access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, objection, etc.). Transfers outside Korea are made on a legal basis such as the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) adopted by Lemon Squeezy.

9. Retention and Destruction

Files and settings created by the App, as well as the license key, reside on your computer and are removed when you delete the App or the files.

Purchase records are kept for the following periods under Korea's Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce and then destroyed.

Records of contracts or withdrawal of offers5 years

Information whose retention period has ended or whose purpose has been fulfilled is deleted in a way that cannot be recovered. The language cookie expires automatically after 1 year, and you can delete it from your browser at any time.

10. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction, deletion or suspension of processing of your personal information. If you make a request through the contact channel, we will look into it and respond without delay; purchase records that must be retained by law will be deleted once that period ends.

You can make requests about payment information held by Lemon Squeezy directly to Lemon Squeezy, or ask the Operator and we will help pass them on.

You can revoke the App's screen recording and microphone permissions at any time in the operating system's privacy settings.

11. Children's Personal Information

The App and the Site are not directed at children, and the Operator does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. Please do not purchase a License without the consent of a legal guardian.

12. Security Measures

The App requests only the permissions it needs and is designed so that your Content never leaves your device. Update files are verified after download before they are installed.

License and payment information is exchanged only over encrypted connections, and the Operator protects the account used to access the seller dashboard with two-factor authentication and limits access to the Operator.

13. Privacy Officer

The person responsible for overseeing the handling of personal information and for handling users' inquiries and complaints is Flate, the operator of HiCapture, which can be reached at the email address below.

You can also report or seek advice about privacy violations from the Personal Information Infringement Report Center (privacy.kisa.or.kr, 118 without an area code) or the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee (kopico.go.kr, 1833-6972).

14. Changes to This Policy

If this Policy changes, the effective date and the changes will be posted on the Site at least 7 days before they take effect. Material changes, such as collecting additional information, will be posted at least 30 days in advance.
